Frequently Asked Questions

Here's what most people ask about.

Here's what most people ask about.

QEWS was originally developed to report wait times at nightclubs, bars, restaurants and popular hotspots in major metropolitan areas. Then Covid-19 hit and we quickly modified the app to report wait times at businesses that were deemed essential services. The app for the foreseeable future will be a public service. The goal is to help keep people, their families and communities safe and save time. We hope to provide an important public service with QEWS.

Good question. You can search several categories of businesses or establishments like grocery, pharmacy, liquor and beer stores, banks, some big box retailers like Walmart, Costco, Home Depot and more. There really is no limit to what you can search, but during the current social distancing measures the most popular businesses and essential services are most likely to have the most reported wait times.

Another good question. The most accurate and current wait times are reported by people like you. We're counting on everyday citizens to report line-ups at places they visit often. It only takes a few taps in the app to do this. The QEWS app indicates the last reported wait time for every user-submitted time. We may also calculate and display an average if there are many people in line during a given period reporting their own observations from where they're standing in line.

That's a great question and difficult to answer. Things can change fast at popular locations and during peak times. The app may report a 5-minute wait, then 5 minutes later 20 more people show up. If none of them report anything the 5 minute time won't be very accurate. We’re relying on people like you to report wait times. So the more people that report the more current and accurate times will be. This helps with social distancing and saves everyone time allowing people to plan their day accordingly.
